### Submagic API – How Credits Are Used
Submagic API uses a **credit-based system** to measure and bill video processing usage. Credits are calculated **based on the total duration of the video**, measured in minutes.
#### How credit calculation works
* **1 credit = up to 1 minute of video**
* Video duration is converted from seconds to minutes
* **Any fraction of a minute is rounded up** to the next full credit
This ensures predictable and transparent usage across all API requests.
#### Examples
* **30 seconds** → 0.5 minutes → **1 credit**
* **60 seconds (1 min)** → 1 minute → **1 credit**
* **61 seconds** → 1.016 minutes → **2 credits**
* **90 seconds (1.5 min)** → **2 credits**
* **120 seconds (2 min)** → **2 credits**
* **150 seconds (2.5 min)** → **3 credits**
#### Key things to keep in mind
* Credits are consumed **per processed video**
* Rounding always goes **up**, even for a few extra seconds
* Short clips still consume **at least 1 credit**
